Choir Sharing Festival

The Choir Sharing Festival is presented by the Music Department and the Southeast Chapter of Kodaly Educators.  It is an opportunity for elementary and middle school choirs to perform, observe other choirs and directors and sing a mass choir piece in a combined chorus with students from around the region.   This is not an adjudicated event or competition.  Each choir performs two songs and then a clinician works with the singers for a few minutes.  The director will receive written comments from the clinicians and the students receive encouragement and affirmation.

This year's Choir Sharing Festival will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015 in Roland Hayes Concert Hall in the Fine Arts Center on the UTC campus.  The Festival will begin at 8:00 a.m. and conclude at 1:00 p.m.  Our clinicians will be Amy Chaffin, past President of Kodaly Educators of Georgia, and Mary Lou Swann, choral director at Woodward Academy, Atlanta, Georgia.  This year's mass choir piece is "Quiet Sea" by Jill Friedersdorf and Melissa Malvar-Keylock (Colla Voce 24-96545/24-96540).
