Ms. Leamon worked primarily in the medical field until she met her late husband saxophonist Ed Leamon. He introduced her to the world of music which ultimately led to a position in a recording studio. She was presented an honorary platinum record for her production work on the Bertie Higgins million-seller hit "Just Another Day in Paradise".

In 1987 she joined the UTC Music Department and was assigned to the band, working with band director Tony D'Andrea.
