Winston
L. Massey Memorial Mathematics Award:
Established in 1973 by the University of Chattanooga Foundation in honor of Massey,
the Guerry Professor of Mathematics, on the occasion of his retirement after 40 years
of service to his alma mater, this award is given each year to an outstanding upper
classman in Mathematics.
Shaun Walker
James
G. Ware Mathematics Education Award:
Established in 1994 by Dr. James G.Ware, faculty member of the Department of Mathematics
for 30 years, upon the occasion of his retirement, this award goes to the outstanding
student planning to teach Mathematics at high school level.
Candis Manns
John
W. Jayne Memorial Mathematics Award:
Established in 1994 by family and colleagues in memory of Dr. John W. Jayne, member
of the Department of Mathematics for 22 years, who died in 1993, this award is given to
an outstanding sophomore majoring in Mathematics.
Marie-Christine Labrie
Herschel V.
Sellers, Jr. Mathematics Scholarship:
Donated in 2007 by Dr Sellers, a retired faculty member of the Department of
Mathematics, the award is given to an outstanding Mathematics student.
Robert Griffin
Freshman
Mathematics Award:
This annual award is given to the freshman who scores the highest of all participants
on the Freshman Mathematics Award Test.
Robert Dacus
Dr. Marjorie Watson Mathematics Scholarship
Established in 2001 by Dr. Watson, this award, offered to an incoming freshman majoring
in Mathematics, is a $2000 scholarship which is renewable for $1000 for up to three years.
Sarah Nelson
Bailey Touchton
Established in 2006 by Ms Shelton, this award, covering in-state tuition, room and board
for an incoming freshman who majors in mathematics, is renewable for up to three additional
years.
