Michael manages many behind the scenes activities in the library including acquiring, receiving, invoicing, and processing of materials purchased or received as gifts. He oversees faculty and staff in serials/electronic resources, stacks maintenance, and records management. In addition, as Assistant Dean, he assists the Dean with budgeting, personnel and policy issues, provides an administrative presence in the Dean's absence, and represents the Dean at campus and University of Tennessee system meetings when necessary.

Michael Joined UTC in 1980 after earning a Master's in Library Science from Vanderbilt University (1980) and a Bachelor's in History from Huntingdon College (1977). In his spare time he enjoys reading, hiking and walking outdoors, and traveling. He is a native of Montgomery, Alabama.
