Administrative Services

The Administrative Services Department supports the University and Library mission of teaching, learning, research, and service through the provision of a range of activities including: strategic planning, technology planning and execution, budget planning and execution, human resource management, facility maintenance, space planning, supply ordering, outreach and communications, development activities, and more. Staff members strive to provide services effectively and efficiently, and welcome new ideas and experimentation to continuously improve our service to the UTC community.

Collection Services

The Collection Services Department supports the University and Library mission of learning, research, and service through acquiring, describing, organizing, and maintaining both the physical (print books and journals, CDs, DVDs, maps, etc.) and online (eBooks, eJournals, and databases) collections for the UTC Library. This is accomplished through purchase, lease, or borrowing of items through Interlibrary Loan. This includes acquiring, housing, preserving, and providing access to historical items and collections, particularly those that relate to the University, Chattanooga, the state of Tennessee, and the American South. Many of our Special Collections contain unique, primary resource materials unavailable elsewhere.

Research and Public Services

The Instruction Team develops and teaches both general and course-specific instructional sessions tailored to specific research needs or library resources. The Instruction Team partners with UTC faculty to teach students information seeking and evaluation skills necessary to be effective 21st Century researchers. The Circulation Team checks out library materials, equipment and study spaces and handles questions regarding library accounts and fees. The Information Commons Team offers assistance and training on using library resources, campus technology, research skills, and techniques. The Studio 305 Team offers assistance to faculty and staff on media production.
