Dean and Department Heads

The Library Dean and Department Heads support the University and Library mission of teaching, learning, research, and service through the provision of a range of activities including: strategic planning, budget planning and execution, human resource management, space planning, development activities, and more. Staff members strive to provide services effectively and efficiently, and welcome new ideas and experimentation to continuously improve our service to the UTC community.

The Desks and Patron Experience Team checks out library materials, equipment and study spaces, handles questions regarding library accounts and fees, and offers assistance and training on using library resources, campus technology, research skills, and techniques.

The Information Technology team at UTC Library provides a variety of hardware and software support for the community.

Instruction

The Instruction Team develops and teaches both general and course-specific instructional sessions tailored to specific research needs or library resources. The Instruction Team partners with UTC faculty to teach students information seeking and evaluation skills necessary to be effective 21st Century researchers.

Special Collections acquires, preserves, and provides open access to rich cultural heritage resources that document Chattanooga, the state of Tennessee, and the South including the history of the University.

Studio

UTC Library's Studio (3rd Floor) is a workspace for innovative technology and media creation. Produce a documentary, prototype your invention, digitize that old box of slides and everything in between. We have 24 work stations loaded with specialized software and dedicated spaces to make your dream projects into reality. We also have faculty and staff to help you get started regardless of your experience level.

Writing and Communication Center

Come to the UTC Writing and Communication Center in Library 327 to work with our writing consultants, UTC students trained to offer feedback on writing for any discipline. We also offer feedback on creative and workplace writing. Consultation sessions, as well as use of our computers and writers' resources, are free. All UTC students, faculty, and staff are welcome.
