Mr. Johnson is an architect retired after a long career with the Tennessee Valley Authority. During his tenure at TVA he was fortunate to have responsibility for a wide range of architectural projects from the design of energy-efficient retirement housing to design oversight of architectural features at the Bellefonte Nuclear Plant. In recent years his design activities were focused on interior architecture for state-of-the-art operation and control centers. He is the recipient of prestigious awards from the American Institute of Architects and a Presidential Design Award for his work in energy responsive design.
Since 2007, Mr. Johnson has been an adjunct faculty member of the UTC Interior Design Department, teaching courses, Sketching for Interior Design and Contract Interiors I. In 2012, he received the Outstanding Adjunct Faculty Award for the UTC College of Health Education and Professional Studies.
Mr. Johnson studied at Auburn University and received a BArch with honors from the University of Tennessee. He especially enjoys bicycle touring, painting, playing the trombone and reading history in his spare time.
