Reed Gregory is a native of Chattanooga, having grown up across the border in Ringgold,
GA. Reed was first introduced to Advanced Computing Technology at Georgia Governor's
Honor Program at Valdosta State in Summer 1998. Reed developed his interest in enterprise
computing while working as a Network/Computer Technician at Hutcheson Medical Center
during High School through the Walker County Youth Apprenticeship Program. Reed graduated
Valedictorian of Gordon Lee Memorial High School before enrolling at Georgia Institute
of Technology as a Computer Engineering Major.
Reed worked as both a Residential Technology Advisor for Department of Housing, and as a Unix Student Assistant for the College of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Georgia Tech. Reed graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with Specialization in Networking and Operating Systems.
Reed came to UTC in July 2004, taking an IT Analyst position at the Help Desk. Reed co-founded the Lab Support group with Bill Johnson and helped deploy the GoPrint pay to print system. After leaving UTC for a technology startup in Denver, Colorado for 2.5 years, Reed returned to UTC to be the Banner Systems Administrator for the Banner Project. Reed took a project leadership role becoming the Lead Portal and Systems Administrator where he deployed the student portal MyMocsNet.
Reed currently leads a team of three as the Datacenter Manager. Reed married his wife Stacie in 2004. They have a basset/beagle mutt named Daisy.
Cats or Dogs? Dogs, because they are loyal and always happy to see you. Plus, Reed and his wife
Stacie are allergic to cats.
Where is the farthest place you have traveled? Spain, Portugal and France. Reed has been to Europe twice and hopes to continue to explore the world as much as he can.
