Staff Job Openings

The UT system has implemented an applicant tracking system that gives applicants the ability to search for open positions by location and entity, apply online and upload attachments. Applicants can check their application status electronically. 


How do I search for open positions?

External applicants, UTC student assistants, and graduate assistants should view the External Career Site.

Regular and temporary staff should search job openings through the Internal Career Site.


How do I apply for a job?

 The first step in the process is to choose from one of the two applicant gateways.

  • External applicants, UTC student assistants, and graduates assistants should apply through the External Career Site. If you are an external candidate, you will create a new account to submit your application.
  • Regular and temporary staff are considered internal applicants for recruiting purposes and should apply through the Internal Career Site. Enter your Net ID and password to apply.


All applications should be submitted online and an email address is required. You will receive an email message to confirm you have applied for a specific position and again when your application is forwarded to a hiring department for consideration. Additional notifications will be sent as appropriate via email throughout the recruitment process.



     What happens after I submit my application for an open position?

You will receive an email confirmation when you have successfully applied to an open position. Your application and qualifications will be reviewed for the minimum qualifications and preferred skills and experience for the position. The hiring manager will review applications and select those he/she is interested in contacting for an interview. The hiring manager will contact an applicant directly to arrange an interview. Following interviews, the hiring manager will select the most suitable candidate for the position. You are encouraged to log in to check the status of your application at any point in the process.

     How do I check the status of my application?

You can log in to your account and click on the job submission status for an update on those positions to which you have applied. The job status column in this feature will show you the current status of the position. The HR status column in this feature will show your individual status within the position. You can monitor the status of your application online through the job submission status feature. If your resume is forwarded to a hiring department for consideration, you will receive an email, and your job submission status will be updated. 

     What if I forget my password?

Go to the login screen and click on "Forgot your Password?" You will need to enter your email address. Once submitted, an email message with the subject line "Password Recovery" will be sent to the email address for your user profile. Click on the link in the email and follow the instructions to reset your password. You will receive an email confirmation when your password has been successfully reset.

     How will I know if a position has been filled or closed?

Positions are posted for a minimum of seven business days. UT does not have defined closing dates for positions. If a position is no longer on the website, the position has either been filled or closed. You also can review your application status, which will show when a position you have applied for has been filled/closed.

     What if I'm interested in a temporary position?

Most positions in the online applicant tracking system are regular positions. If a position is temporary, the ad will state TERM (temporary), part-time, non-benefits position.  Additional TERM positions are listed below.

Media Production Coordinator, Fine Arts Center, Temporary 7-month position
Pay Grade 37.  Minimum $11.94/hr.  This position maintains, coordinates, and operates technical stage facilities and equipment in the Fine Arts Center.  Responsibilities include:  executing stage setup needs; performing regular maintenance and inspection of equipment; providing written and verbal communications with production companies; and scheduling, training, and supervising part time and student workers as needed.  QUALIFICATIONS:  High School diploma with minimum 2 years college and stage technical training in lighting, sound, and rigging for the stage.  Must have minimum 2 years professional experience related to technical stage work and experience working with stage crews and professional production managers.  Must have knowledge of current equipment standards for theatrical productions; possess organization and supervisory skills; some computer skills as related to sound and light consoles; and basic electrical knowledge related to lighting and audio equipment.  Work hours are flexible and consist of days, evenings and weekends as required according to event schedule.  Position involves a great deal of mobility with lifting, climbing, walking and balance; some visual and auditory requirements do exist; and manipulations with hands/fingering with bolting and keypad entry. Speech-to-Text Specialist, Disability Resource Center
TERM (temporary), part-time, non-benefits position.This position will provide real-time caption services within the classroom for individuals who are hard of hearing/deaf. Responsible  for facilitating communication between all participants in the classroom, great listening skills, attention to detail and accuracy, and trouble-shooting minor computer problems. QUALIFICATIONS: Typing speed of 60+ wpm, proficient in English; training is required on C-Print caption software; DRC offers training. Grounds Keeper
TERM (temporary), part-time, non-benefits position. Pay Grade 30, Minimum $7.50/hr. Performs a variety of manual tasks required in grounds maintenance such as litter collection; prepares seed beds; plants; cultivates; weeds flower and shrub beds; operates small equipment such as push mowers, edgers and blowers; assists with athletic field maintenance and parking lot maintenance. QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or equivalent preferred; previous grounds care experience preferred.
