Dr. Gary LiguoriDr. Gary Liguori

Department Head and Associate Professor

Gary Liguori is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the Department Head of Health and Human Performance at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. Gary received his Ph.D. in Wellness from NDSU and has had previous faculty appointments at the University of Wyoming, Youngstown State University, and North Dakota State University. Gary recently served as the Chair of the ACSM Health Fitness Specialist (HFS) certification committee, and as the Senior Editor of the first edition ACSM Resource Manual for the HFS. Gary has been named an Editor for ACSM’s flagship textbook, the Guidelines for Exercise Testing and Prescription, 10th edition and also recently published his 2nd Fitness and Wellness textbook with McGraw-Hill. Gary has presented his work nationally and internationally, and his current research focus is on sedentary behavior and also on using NHANES data to consider patterns of change in metabolic syndrome.
