We know that seasonal flu is approaching, and there is an additional concern this year regarding H1N1 or swine flu. It is very important that we reduce the spread of influenza by following the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines. The influenza viruses spread from contaminated persons to others by hand contact and also in respiratory droplets, especially from coughing and sneezing.
Students, faculty, and staff should know flu symptoms may include: fever, sore throat, headache, chills, cough, body aches, muscle aches, and sneezing. Call your health care provider or UTC University Health Services for instructions if you become ill or have questions. The University Health Services phone number is 778-9303.
UTC is working with the local health department to ensure the most current information is available to the University community. Working with the Hamilton County Health Department, University officials are confirming reported cases of the H1N1 virus among UTC students. We will keep the information on this page up-to-date over the coming weeks and months with information on vaccinations, precautions and policy and procedure changes that may arise from any flu outbreaks on campus.
