First Year Studies: The UTC Experience

UTC is very interested in the success of students, particularly freshmen, who are transitioning from high school to college. To assist in this transition, UTC offers First Year Studies: The UTC Experience.  USTU 1250 serves as an introduction to the academic community and helps freshmen identify the nature and purpose of a college education, learn the expectations for academic success and importance of time management, and locate academic resources.

In this course students meet once per week with a group of about 25 other freshmen to learn about transitioning from high school to college. Although one may have been a successful high school student, research from previous freshmen indicates that college may offer more challenges than expected. This course is highly recommended to help students compete successfully during their first year of college.
