M.A. English, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga
My teaching interests focus on composition, particularly helping students develop their original arguments.
I prefer to engage my students personally on the subject matter and help guide them to an understanding. I try to minimize lecture time, especially in composition courses, and help them learn critical thought through practice.
Outside of being a professor, what do you do for fun and/or relaxation?
Exercise and fly fishing help me to relax, each in its own way.
What are your expectations of students?
My expectations of my students are simple: show up prepared and ready to work. Those that do typically exceed their expectations.
What's something about you that might surprise your students?
I prefer cats to dogs.
