Integer Holdings - Validation Engineer

Description
The primary purpose of this job is to provide Quality Engineering support for Operations to ensure that the Quality System requirements are adhered to for medical device manufacturing/operations in accordance with applicable Regulatory and Standards requirements for compliance.  Provide work direction for 1-3 Technicians/Inspectors.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Adheres to Company Core Beliefs and all safety and quality requirements including, but not limited to: Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, Company policies and operating procedures, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support regulatory and agency inspections, audits, investigations, and inquiries regarding the control and assessment of product design and manufacturing quality.
  • Monitor manufacturing of assigned products, assuring compliance with DMR while providing deviation/waiver guidance and assuring complete and correct Device History Records are maintained.
  • Review the adequacy and correctness of changes to Bill of Materials (BOM’s), Assembly Procedures, Drawings, Component Specification, FMEAs, Control Plans, etc.
  • Lead generation and completion of protocols and reports for test method validations.
  • Interfaces with Manufacturing Engineers to review processes for new and existing products and coordinate process validations and capability studies. Recommends process monitoring devices where applicable.
  • Develops various inspection techniques and procedures to ensure product integrity to design specifications. Responsible for the writing, approval and implementation of Incoming, In-Process and Final Inspection procedures.
  • Ensure that the disposition of non-conforming materials meet all necessary regulatory requirements and assure adequacy of corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Lead and manage complaint investigations.
  • Participate in plant CAPA activities, including analysis of data and trends in complaints, supplier quality, nonconforming material, training effectiveness, and root causes analysis.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects.
  • Assist with product transfers.
  • Works with suppliers, management, Engineers and Manufacturing associates in the resolution of quality problems. Also, assists each of these groups with capability studies and the application of statistical quality control which include Cpk, DOE, Hypotheses Testing, etc.
  • Mentor and support quality inspectors and technicians.
  • Performs other functions as required.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field required.
  • Minimum Experience: 2-5 years quality engineering experience, preferably in medical device or regulated manufacturing
  • Specialized Knowledge:
      • Competence in the selection and use of Quality Engineering Tools and Techniques.
      • Good knowledge in the interpretation and application of relevant Domestic and International Regulations and Industry Standards (e.g. ISO, QSR, UL, MDD, TGA etc.)
      • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Minitab 
  • Special Skills:
      • Ability to work independently and in team environment.
      • Ability to effectively communicate written and verbally.
        Ability to manage time effectively to ensure timely completion of tasks. 
  • Other:
      • Certified Quality Engineering (CQE), Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE), Certified

SUMMARY:

ITG (the “Company”) is a Chattanooga, TN based firm focused on industrial machine design and fabrication. Current project backlogs require support for engineers and project teams engaged in design work related to process automation, fluid control systems, and atmospheric process controls. Draftsperson required at the Cummings Rd. facility approximately forty (40) hours per week.

TASKS:

Under the direction of the Engineering Manager & Director of Operations the intern will gain valuable hands-on insight into the real world application of engineering principles while witnessing  his or her designs come to life in a working machine and fabrication shop.

In this role, the intern will:  

  1. Create, modify, and maintain dimensional designs, layouts, and drawings including 2D surface drawings & 3D solid modeling designs, and all related documentation using SolidWorks® computer-aided design (CAD) system in support of project engineers and field installers during design, development, manufacturing, testing, and field commissioning.
  2. Analyze blue-print and P&ID drawings, hand sketches, or verbal direction to utilize software to develop an “Issued for Construction” (IFC) group of product drawings and designs.
    • Use computer-aided drafting equipment, technical handbooks, tables, and other tools to create to-scale drawings of newly designed equipment.
    • Measure factors that affect installation and arrangement of equipment, such as creating “to scale” drawings with listed measurements
    • Draft working drawings as required with instructions to installation crew
    • Maintain design integrity by using SolidWorks EPDM Vault
  3. Work with engineering team to create needed designs
  4. Interpret and ensure conformance to applicable standards and codes, as well as company defined design parameters
  5. Prepare presentations to present and explain work completed for group review
  6. Confer with engineering staff and other personnel to resolve potential design flaws or installation problems
  7. Revise drawings based on instructions from engineers

SKILLS:

Qualifications necessary to safely and efficiently perform the Tasks including;

  1. SolidWorks experience; SolidWorks Elite Certification, a plus.
    • Ability to create or modify 3-D geometries in both Surfacing, as well as Solid environments.
    • Experience designing with structural steel and other support components, sheet metal, aluminum, etc.
    • Experience with mechanical pumps a plus.
  2. Ability to read/interpret blue-print and P&ID drawings.
  3. Ability to understand notations & symbols commonly used to give instructions on drawings and blueprints
  4. Understanding and ability to solve the equations, calculations and written instructions from engineers
  5. Strong computer skills including MS word, MS Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  6. Ability to work within a team and independently as required
  7. Strong written and verbal communication skills
  8. Willingness to collaborate to solve problems; Strong trouble-shooting skills, a plus

Southeastern Tool & Design - Mechanical Engineer

Summary:
Intern would support Design Engineers who are designing and project managing custom machine projects for Southeastern Tool & Design’s customers. Customers include Volkswagen, Gestamp, Gill Industries, Denso, Nissin Brakes, Komatsu, Shaw Industries and others. Client is in need of a Visualization Specialist to join their team on a full-time basis. This person's main responsibility will be working with Callidus to create high quality, color and scale accurate virtual product simulations and visualizations in digital and/or hard copy format for the Carpet Flooring Business. This person needs to have great color-matching skills, as he/she will be using Photoshop to correct color schemes and fit carpet product designs into their official template.

Job Details:

  • Callidus - this person needs to have some basic knowledge of Callidus. If someone has used Callidus, he/she will know how to install different products within that room layout. Sufficient knowledge of Callidus is a must have.
  • Photoshop - this person will be working with Photoshop both before and after Callidus work. Before using Callidus, this person may need to collect or generate patterns within Photoshop. From Callidus, once he/she finishes installation, the work will be taken back into Photoshop to implement it into a custom template. There will be some work around color corrections.
  • Percentage breakdown of the job:
    • 80% Callidus

    • 10% Supporting various departments (development, marketing, sample, production) with product simulations

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current student or recent graduate of no more than 12 months from an A.S., B.S. or M.S. Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Imaging Technology or Mechanical Principles degree program or equivalent DOD military education.
  • Must maintain a cumulative GPA of a 3.0 or higher based on a 4.0 scale
  • Previous experience and/or course work in which you have successfully interpreted schematic diagrams and performed troubleshooting and planned maintenance on basic diagnostic imaging or electronic equipment following current standards, code, and procedures to ensure safe and effective operation of those devices.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain good customer relationships.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test as part of the selection process.
  • Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, including for example, verification of your past employment, criminal history, and educational background.

CECS Student Research Assistant

The Unmanned Systems Laboratory in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at UTC is searching for both undergraduate and graduate students to perform research.
