Scholarships Available for the College of Engineering and Computer Science

All scholarships for Academic Year 2016-17 have been awarded.
The 2017-18 CECS scholarship application is available via the link below.

Application Timeline (for Scholarships available through the College of Engineering and Computer Science):

    • January - The scholarship application process begins. (Link to the UTC CECS Scholarship Application) (All applications must be typed and signed and cannot be faxed or emailed)
    • Deadline: March 1 -  Scholarship applications, unofficial transcripts typed and signed and due to Dean's office by 5pm. No fax or emailed applications are accepted.
    • Late March - Scholarship Committee meets to determine scholarship awards
    • To Be Determined - Students will be notified by email of their award

Additional Scholarships awarded through Financial Aid - UTC Scholarship Office

Mario C. and Grace B. Charles Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship is offered through the generosity of Mario and Grace Charles. An eligible candidate must

  1. Be a Full-Time UTC student during the award period (minimum of 12 credit hours each semester);
  2. Major in either Engineering or Education (Education majors must be admitted to the Teacher Education Program or graduate students admitted to an education program that includes certification);
  3. Have a minimum 3.5 GPA and completed at least 30 hours at UTC (AP credit from high school is included).

This scholarship requires a separate application. The application is typically available online each year in January or February. Please use the link above for more information about how to apply and to find other scholarship opportunities.


PLEASE NOTE: Scholarship funds are limited and the awarding process is competitive.  Meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee a student will receive a scholarship.


 

Alstom Power Engineering Scholarship

Qualifications:
Each student applying for this scholarship must demonstrate successful academic performance and/or financial need.  The donors prefer that first consideration be given to minority students majoring in mechanical engineering in the GEAR UP program (from Brainerd or Howard HS).

Qualifications:
This scholarship is available to junior, and senior students who are engineering majors and they:

must have a 3.0 GPA in first 2 years of academic work

must demonstrate financial need (this information will be determined by information the college scholarship coordination receives from UTC's scholarship office from information you provide on your FAFSA)

must be enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering Program

 American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Tennessee

To qualify for the  ACEC Tennessee Scholarship , a student must be a US citizen pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in an engineering or land surveying program in Tennessee in a department that has at least one ABET-accredited program. Students must be entering their junior, senior, fifth, or graduate year in the fall of 2017 to qualify. Candidates for the CASE scholarship (a national scholarship) must be enrolled in a Master's degree program in Structural Engineering in the fall 2017 semester.  Tennessee Engineering Foundation 2017 Scholarships

The TEF will award four scholarships in 2017. Three scholarships of $3,500 each are open to any rising junior or senior in an accredited engineering school in Tennessee. The $4,000 Dorothy & Arthur Crouch Memorial scholarship is open to any rising junior or senior in an accredited engineering school in the state of Tennessee as well as the child or grandchild of any TSPE member at the accredited school of choice (in or out of Tennessee) if all other requirements are met.  Click here for the TEF Scholarship Application.

James K. Goldston INFOSEC Scholarship

Purpose and History:  Established in 2006 by the family of James K. Goldston to provide assistance to students from Tennessee to pursue undergraduate programs of study with a National Security Agency (NSA)-approved Information Security (INFOSEC) curriculum.

Scholarship Amount: $1,200 one-time award for 1 year

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Residency Requirement: Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Carter, Claiborne, Cocke, Grainger, Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Jefferson, Johnson, Knox (TN), Loudon, McMinn, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Scott, Sevier, Sullivan, Unicoi, Union, or Washington County
  • Education Requirement: Graduating high school seniors, currently enrolled college/university students, non-traditional aged students
  • Field of Study: computer engineering, computer science, cyber science, information security OR an NSA-approved INFOSEC curriculum.  Interest in cyber security and information security preferred.
  • GPA Minimum: 2.5
  • College/Enrollment Requirement: Full-time undergraduate 
  • Must demonstrate financial need
  • Additional Requirements:
    • U.S. Citizenship  
    • Special consideration given to non-traditional students and applicants panning to attend or currently attending Tennessee schools
    • Preference given to applicants who are the first in their family to attend college.
