Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam

  • Students who are enrolled in an EAC/ABET-accredited engineering program may take the FE exam their senior year (last 2 semesters of the program)
  • If you plan to take the exam this year, follow the process outlined below:
    • Complete application on the TN State Board site and submit to Andrea James, EMCS 430, for the Dean's signature.  Once your application is signed you will be notified by email to pick it up.  At that point, you mail the Application For Senior Engineering Students or For Individuals With Degrees and the application fee to the address on the application.
      • NOTE: Only the Dean and Associate Deans may sign the FE application
    • Register for the exam via the NCEES website.  You will then pay $225, and the available dates for the test will be revealed.  Only the student can see the available test dates when they register.
      • NCEES does not give the exam during: March, June, September, and December
      • The closest Testing Center to UTC is: Pearson Professional Centers-Chattanooga TN
