Message from Dr. Neslihan Alp, Interim Dean
Welcome to the College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC)!
CECS offers variety of engineering programs, such as Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Chemical, as well as a computer science program with the concentrations in Software Systems, Scientific Applications, and Information Security and Assurance, and a technology program in Construction Management and Engineering Management both at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
We also have unique programs and centers which are nationally recognized like the National Center for Computational Engineering and National Center of Academic Excellence in Information Assurance. Currently, the only Ph.D. program that we offer is in Computational Engineering. Our College has also a fully online master’s program in Engineering Management, which is listed in the top 25 online programs in the nation according to the SuperScholar Smart Choice. Our students are employed by companies like the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), which is the nation’s largest public power provider, Electric Power Board (EPB), Volkswagen, Alstom, Shaw, Miller, Unum, Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS), and many more.
The main goal of the CECS is to provide a quality education to our students and serve our community. We have small class sizes in the state-of-the-art building which was completed in 2003. Our high-tech classrooms and laboratories provide a great learning environment to our students with many hands-on experiences. We are also proud of having great faculty and staff, who work very closely with students to assist them to achieve their best.
CECS at UTC is proud of being the regional leader in technical education and applied research. We encourage you to visit our College and learn more about the opportunities we offer. Please contact our departments or the Dean’s Office for more information. We look forward to seeing you and informing you more as we say in our motto “Dream BIG. Believe BIG. Achieve BIG.”
Neslihan Alp, Ph.D., P.E.
