You will find answers to the most frequently asked questions here.

Students interested in majoring in business begin as pre-Business majors. Students are required to meet the following admission requirements before being fully admitted to the College of Business:  

  • Earn a C or higher in the following nine courses;
  • Have an admission GPA of 2.5 or higher (calculated using the nine admission courses)

English 1010, 1020 Rhetoric & Composition I & II
Economics 1010 Macro Economics
Economics 1020 Micro Economics
Management 1000 Computers in Business
Management 2110, 2120 Statistics for Business I & II
Accounting 2010, 2020 Principles of Accounting I & II

Admission to the College does not require an application. Students are automatically rolled to full business major status once all admission requirements are fulfilled. Students may remain pre-Business majors until all criteria are met. 

COB majors are required to meet with their assigned Academic Advisor for advisement and to receive an updated Alternate PIN once in the fall semester and once in the spring semester (excludes orientation).

Students schedule appointments through the online calendar. Once scheduled, a reminder email will be sent 24 hours prior to the appointment date and time. Appointments:

  • Must be scheduled a minimum of 24 hrs in advance.
  • Must be canceled a minimum of 24 hrs in advance.
  • May be scheduled up to 3 weeks in advance.

Directions:

1) Go to www.utc.edu/college-business

2) Click on Joseph F. Decosimo Success Center

3) Click on Undergraduate Advising

4) Click on the big, blue “Schedule an Appointment here” button at the bottom of the page (you may need to scroll down).

5) Create an user account using your UTC email address and a newly created password.

NOTE: Changing to a non-business major changes your advisor.  

1) Log into your MyMocsNet account.

2) Click on the Academics tab.

3) Click on the MyMocsDegree link in the My Degree Evaluation box.

4) Click on the "Save as PDF" button.

5) Click on the print icon to print or the save icon to save the file.

Students wishing to add, drop or change majors, minors or catalog years must submit a Program/Minor/Catalog Year Change Request form to the Records Office.

Students who change to a major outside the College of Business are assigned an advisor under their new major.  

NOTE: Athletes and veterans are not eligible to submit program changes online. Athletes must consult with their athletic advisor; veterans must consult with their veteran’s benefits specialist.  

Students should apply for graduation in their next to last semester. The Application for Graduation is located in MyMocsNet on the Academics Tab.

Applications must be submitted online by the following dates:

Spring Graduation     October 15th
Summer Awarding     March 15th
Fall Graduation           June 15th

After the deadline date, late applications may be submitted. A $50 late fee will be assessed. No late applications will be accepted after the following dates:

Spring Graduation     April 1st
Summer Awarding     July 5th
Fall Graduation          November 1st

1: Log on to www.utc.edu.

2: Click on “Class Schedule”, top right corner.

3: Click on term under “Search by Term”, click “Submit”.  

4: Use the fields to search by specific criteria.

Searching for English 1010, use:

“Subject” – English 

“Course Number” - 1010

Searching for general education courses, use:

“Subject” – All 

“Attribute Type” (select general education category)

Click on “Class Search”

1) Go to www.utc.edu 

2) Click the “MyMocsNet” link.

3) Enter your UTCID and password; click “Enter”.

4) From the Main Menu, click the “Academics” tab.

5) Under “Registration And Student Records” click on “Register, Add or Drop Classes”.

6) Select registration term from the drop-down box; click “Submit”.

7) Enter your Alternate PIN (six digits); click “Submit”.

8) Enter the 5-digit CRNs in the fields (boxes) at the bottom of the screen; click the “Submit Changes” button.

9) Verify your schedule now lists all of your courses. Accepted classes are indicated as *Web Registered*. 

10) Check for “Registration Add Errors” in the lower screen.

11) When finished, click on “RETURN TO MENU” .

12) Click “My Concise Student Schedule” to view schedule.

How to DROP Courses: Follow steps 1-6 above.

7) In the “Action” drop-down box next to the CRN you wish to drop, select “Web Drop” and click “Submit”. Be careful!

8) Verify your adjusted schedule is correct. 

Students are required to meet with their assigned academic advisor once each semester before receiving their updated Alternate PIN for registration.

Students who would like to register for any closed class (business or other) that offers an online automated waiting list should place their name on the online automated waiting list by typing the CRN of the course in the registration field on the Register/Add/Drop screen of the Academics tab on MyMocsNet. 

  1. Students cannot add their name to a waiting list using the “checkbox” method.
  2. Students may not place their name on a waiting list while registered in an alternate section of the same course. 
  3. Once a waiting list is created, all open seats are reserved for students on the waiting list.
  4. Closed class overrides cannot be issued for classes with active waiting lists.
  5. Students should check their email daily, even during semester breaks, in case the system issues a closed class override.
  6. If the system issues an override, the student will be notified by UTC email and have 48 hours to update their registration.
  7. Students who do not update their registration during the 48 hour window are removed from the waiting list.

Business courses:

Students who receive "do not meet the prerequisite, co-requisite or test score" or "do not have enough hours to register" registration error messages when trying to register for a business course should fill out the College of Business Prerequisite Error Form

This EXCLUDES closed class messages.  

Note: This is not a request for a waiver of prerequisites or standing, but a request to have your record reviewed for equivalent or outstanding course work, including petitions, that meet the CURRENT prerequisites and are not being recognized by the computer prerequisite check program.

Non-business courses:

Students registered for prerequisite course work at another institution for the summer must provide a copy of their summer acceptance letter or summer registration to receive a prerequisite override for fall.  Students may email or fax their documents to:
