The College of Business at UTC is dedicated to student success and views academic advising as a vital component of the undergraduate business experience. Advising is designed to assist students in developing meaningful educational plans that support their academic and personal goals while providing a foundation for future career development and intellectual growth. Academic Advising is a shared responsibility between the College and business majors that reinforces the core values established in the College's mission of "producing academically-prepared and business-world ready men and women for a competitive global environment".
The College of Business has five professional advisors knowledgeable in each of the eight business programs offered by the College of Business. Students meet with all five advisors during freshmen or transfer orientation. Once the semester begins, students are assigned to a specific advisor to guide them as they progress through their business degree requirements.
First-freshmen are required to meet with their assigned advisor twice during the fall semester and twice during the second semester. All other students are required to meet with their assigned advisor at least once in the fall semester and once in the spring semester. Academic advisors are available year-around. Students are encouraged to meet with professional advisors frequently throughout the academic year.
