About PLUGDIN

UTC students now have the opportunity to be introduced to real world environments of downtown businesses through PLUGDIN, a program of River City Company in partnership with the Young Professionals Association of Chattanooga (YPAC).

PLUGDIN literally plugs students in to small-group interaction and networking opportunities with some of the area’s largest employers and helps support River City Company and YPAC’s goal of retaining young, creative individuals in the Chattanooga area. The groups also provide transportation for the student group so that getting off campus and into downtown is as easy as possible.

Due to the fact that space is limited, students are encouraged to sign up for this program as soon as possible.

Who attends a PLUGDIN program?

Total attendance will be approximately 30 people. About 20 students, a few UTC faculty members, and at least three representatives from each host organization.

Why would I want to attend a PLUGDIN program?

PLUGDIN gives students an opportunity to get off campus, visit a local business, and imagine how they might fit into various corporate cultures. Additionally, PLUGDIN provides students with a fantastic networking opportunity to meet with business people.

Additionally, students who participate in PLUGDIN receive a free membership to YPAC that includes discounted YPAC luncheon rates, special discounts at downtown restaurants and shops, and access to the new YPAC web site that lists job opportunities in the area.

What does a student need to know about PLUGDIN?

  • Be prepared to come and make a positive first impression!
  • Dress in business attire.
  • Come with a positive attitude and desire to learn!
  • Ask questions! There is no better way to network than to ask someone about what they do!
  • Transportation is provided.
  • Companies will provide three-four employees to speak to PLUGDIN participants as well as a tour of the business site.

How do students sign-up to participate in PLUGDIN?

Students will be notified of upcoming PLUGDIN events. If you would like to participate, please email your resume to bschool@utc.edu to RSVP. Again, due to the fact that space is limited, students are encouraged to sign up for this program as soon as possible.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the fact that space is limited, students are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. No shows are highly discouraged. Students that RSVP but do not attend a PLUGDIN program may be ineligible to participate in future PLUGDIN opportunities.
