Course# 5187
Learn to use writing as a means to gain insight into and power over how you live and think. A simple method anyone can learn, Proprioceptive Writing® (PW) is a powerful tool that can be used to:
• Focus awareness, dissolve inhibitions, and build self-trust
• Unburden your mind and resolve emotional conflicts
• Connect more deeply with your spiritual self
• Write and speak with strength and clarity
• Awaken your senses and emotions
• Liberate your creative energies
In the short term PW invigorates your mind. Over time it strengthens your sense of self and connects you to the world. When practiced regularly, PW can bring a new sense of wellbeing and confidence that is vital to mental health and creativity.

Ladysmith Black Mambazo at UTC Fine Arts Center
Calendar: cal4
Posted by: Robert Boyer
Details:
One of this season’s highlights, the world-renowned Ladysmith Black Mambazo comes to UTC for the first time for a stellar concert as part of the Patten Performances.

For more than forty years, Ladysmith Black Mambazo has married the intricate rhythms and harmonies of their native South African musical traditions to the sounds and sentiments of Christian gospel music. The result is a musical and spiritual alchemy that has touched a worldwide audience representing every corner of the religious, cultural and ethnic landscape.

A radio broadcast in 1970 opened the door to their first record contract – the beginning of an ambitious discography that includes more than forty recordings, three Grammy Awards and fifteen nominations. In the mid-1980s, Paul Simon visited South Africa and incorporated Black Mambazo’s rich tenor/alto/bass harmonies into Graceland – the landmark 1986 recording that won the Grammy Award for Best Album and is considered seminal in introducing world music to mainstream audiences.

Tickets are available at www.tickettracks.com or by calling the UTC Fine Arts Center Box Office at 423.425.4269.

You're On the Air: How to Really Make it in Voice-Overs
Calendar: cal11
Posted by: Continuing Education
Details:
Course# 5168
Voice-overs are hot today! You don’t have to be an actor to get voice-over work, but it certainly doesn’t hurt! With such notable talent as Morgan Freeman, Glenn Close, and Alec Baldwin lending their voices to commercials, films, and videos, one would think that it would be next to impossible to break into this field. Not so! You’ll learn about an exciting, new way to get around the competition and actually turn voice-overs into a thriving full or part-time business! The instructor will discuss the voice-over business as a whole, the numerous opportunities, the incredible income potential, and the all important “demo” and how to have it produced. You’ll step up to the mic and do some practice recording, and best of all, you’ll hear the results!
