UTC Opera Theater presents W.A Mozart's "Cosi Fan Tutte"

The UTC Opera Theater will present their spring production of W.A Mozart’s Cosi Fan Tutte. The opera will be fully staged and costumed, sung in English, and accompanied by the UTC Orchestra under Maestro Jooyung Ahn. Stage direction is by Associate Professor, Ron Ulen. It will be performed at Roland Hayes Concert Hall in the UTC Fine Arts Center (corner of Palmetto and Vine), and admission will be free for UTC students, $10.00 for adults and non-UTC students, and $7.00 for senior citizens. To reserve tickets, please call the UTC box office at (423) 425-4269.

Dennis Thurmond will present a unique evening of improvisation on piano. He will solicit tunes from the audience and improvise on them based on the following themes: Renaissance, Baroque, Classic, Romantic, Impressionistic, French/Russian Neo-Romantic, and Jazz. It will be a one-of-a-kind concert that will be both interactive and entertaining.

The UTC Viola Ensemble, directed by Floy Wang, will present an all-viola recital in Cadek Recital Hall (located on the main floor of the Cadek Conservatory of Music at UTC). The concert will feature each of the eight viola students on his/her own solo, and it will conclude with all eight students in a massed performance of Telemann’s Concerto in G Major for two violas. This performance is open to the general public and presented free of charge.

Have you written a paper that you would like to share with the UTC community? Does it have anything to do with that which makes us human: religion, culture, folklore, disease, etc? Then send it our way for your chance to shine!

Join us on Friday, April 9th, for our first symposium, Humans and Their Environment. Interested UTC students should submit a brief abstract to Jacob King at jacob-king@utc.edu or deposit one at the Sociology, Anthropology, and Geography table at the Majors fair on March 24th. The deadline for submissions is Friday, March 26th. Please include contact information on your abstract and you will be contacted directly if your paper is chosen for presentation.

If you don't have a qualifying paper in the works or have no desire to make a submission, come along anyway and show your peers some support!
