Wednesday, January 20, 2010 3:00-5:00 pm UC Raccoon Mountain Room The lecture will begin with an explanation of how the people whose way of life comes to expression in the Dead Sea Scrolls understood themselves and why they thought of themselves in this way. Their self- understanding will be compared with the community that is described in Acts 2-4. Both of these religious associations understood themselves as living in extraordinary times and both shared practices such as pooling their possessions. Both their shared characteristics and the distinctions between them will be explored. |

UTC Music presents Clint Schmitt, Saxophone in a faculty recital with guests Sin-Hsing Tsai (piano), Heather Small (flute) and Aaron Schmitt (saxophone). Mr. Schmitt will perform two pieces by regional composers Paul Osterfield of Nashville, TN, and Dorothy Hindman of Birmingham, AL, as well as music by Schulhoff, Francaix, Boutry, and Schocker. A special treat will be Mr. Schmitt’s son joining him for a piece for two saxophones by Paul Hindemith. The concert is free. |
