SAT Preparation
Details:
SAT/PSAT workshops are designed to help students take an individualized study approach to the new SAT and PSAT tests. An actual retired SAT/PSAT test will be given to students to show strengths and weaknesses in all areas tested. This class offers a review of critical reading skills, math and writing skills and in-class problem-solving and strategies. Test-taking strategies will be covered for each required testing point. Students will leave with a personal study plan, including a vocabulary workbook and explanatory answers to each test question. *Both workshops are open to the public. $175 (workbook included) (Each student will need to bring a calculator, 2 sharpened pencils, and a sack lunch.) Details:
The String Project at UTC provides an opportunity for school-aged children to learn a stringed instrument at a reasonable cost. Students receive private and group instruction on their chosen instrument from qualified music interns under the supervision of an experienced string music educator. Feed My Starving Children
Details:
Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a Christian non-profit committed to feeding God’s children, hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: Volunteers hand-pack meals specially formulated for malnourished children, and we send them to partners building more-successful communities in nearly 70 countries around the world. We need 300 volunteers for our shift on Wednesday, January 16, from 7:00-9:00 PM to help pack dry meals for the world’s hungry. We will be providing transportation from Lansing Court to the warehouse, leaving UTC at 6:30 PM. However, we cannot do it without your help and we would love for your organization to join our team!!! Imagine 60 miniature musical compositions, lasting no more than one minute each, created by musicians from around the world and presented back-to-back in a seamless one-hour event. “60 x 60” is an electro-acoustic music event that is enhanced with artistic video. Founded by composer Robert Voisey in 2003 and eclectic by nature, “60 x 60” offers an unmatched diversity of styles, making for a fast-speed, electrifying one-of-a-kind performance that never ceases to surprise. All individual performances of “60 x 60” are unique to the region where it is performed, making this performance, hosted and coordinated by UTC professor and composer Jonathan McNair, unique to Chattanooga. “60 x 60” will take place at the Roland Hayes Concert Hall at the UTC Fine Arts Center, 752 Vine Street, Chattanooga, at 7:30 p.m. on January 28, 2013. The UTC Music Department is pleased to present the “Concerto Competition Winners Concert”, featuring the UTC Orchestra, Jooyong Ahn, director. Each year this competition provides an opportunity for our most talented vocalists and musicians to perform with the UTC Orchestra. Highlights include performances by vocalists Kala Cisson, soprano, and Jason Ryan O’Neal, bass-baritone, and pianists Ethan McGrath, Roy Treiyer and John Tunstall. The recital will take place in the UTC Fine Arts Center, Roland Hayes Concert Hall, 752 Vine St., on January 31, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. It is presented is presented free of charge and open to the general public. |

Come skiing/snowboarding with UTC Outdoors. We drive up early on Saturday morning, spend the day on the slopes, and come home the same night. ACT Preparation
Details:
ACT workshops cover general information about the tests as well as individual sections for the ACT in English, Math, Science, and Writing. Each student receives 5-6 hours of classroom instruction and a workbook that has an additional 10-15 hours of supplementary work. The workbook includes an actual retired ACT test with explanatory answers, English and Math reviews, clearly outlined content overviews for each subsection, quick tip study guides, and additional retired ACT tests. *Both workshops are open to the public. $175 (workbook included) (Each student will need to bring a calculator, 2 sharpened pencils, and a sack lunch.)
