The String Project at UTC provides an opportunity for school-aged children to learn a stringed instrument at a reasonable cost. Students receive private and group instruction on their chosen instrument from qualified music interns under the supervision of an experienced string music educator. Students in grades 3-12 may apply for admission to the program. If an orchestra exists at the student’s school, they must be enrolled in that group to participate in the String Project. UTC has a limited number of instruments available for rental. It is best suited for participants who already have a clear business idea, as the material is applied to that concept’s development. The UTC Music Department is delighted to present the UTC Chamber Singers European Tour Homecoming Concert, directed by J. Kevin Ford. The performance will take place in Christ Episcopal Church, 663 Douglas St., Chattanooga on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. UTC’s Chamber Singers traveled to Prague, Vienna, Eisenstaedt and Budapest during spring break performing concerts in each of the major cities visited. Highlights from their performance will feature works from their tour, including: the challenging “Chichester Mass” by William Albright, a unique “Da Pacem Domine” made up of composers from all over the world, and two Roland Carter arrangements, “In Bright Mansions Above” and “You Must Have that True Religion”. The performance is presented free of charge and open to the general public. |
