The Functions of the Center for Distance Learning

  • To make recommendations to the Provost regarding
    • requests from academic departments/programs to offer distance education courses and programs of study
    • proposed use of distance education resources by non-instructional divisions of the University
    • proposed institutional agreements that may directly or indirectly use distance education resources
  • Maintain records related to distance education activities
  • Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations
  • Ensure compliance with University policies and guidelines
  • To coordinate, facilitate, and otherwise support
    • training for faculty to appropriately and effectively teach distance learning courses
    • assessment of distance learning courses and programs of study
    • provision of resources necessary to offer distance education courses
    • advisement of prospective students who wish to enroll in distance education courses; assistance for students enrolled in distance education courses
  • To promote the distance education program to potential students
