Demetria Jordan is currently the Graduation Coordinator for the Upward Bound program. She previously held the part-time position of Activities Coordinator before taking the full-time position. Her current position allows her to spend more time with high school students while helping them to achieve their goal of going to college.
Although her love for working with children has been evident since an early age, Demetria first formally started working with students while in college at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC). She worked in the local urban schools as a counselor in an after school program. She later discovered that she wanted to take a career path working with youth in some capacity. After earning a Bachelor’s degree from UTC, she went on to work for Girl’s Inc., where she worked as a Program Specialist. After which, she later worked for Hamilton County Department of Education for nearly six years as a Family Partnership Specialist.
Mrs. Jordan is committed to her passion of working with kids. She has a life story that mirrors many of the students she works with. Given this similarity she feels she is able to identify with the students and provide them with resources that are both professional and personal.
