Undecided on Your Major?
You are not alone. A large portion of each entering class at UTC are premajors. Many more students will change their major at least one time before graduating.
Being a premajor allows you a chance to explore your options while working on your general education requirements. College is the best time for you to learn about yourself and discover what you want to do with your life.
As an undecided student, you must be actively engaged in finding a major. You probably will not wake up tomorrow and know what you want to major in – it takes some work! So your homework for the next few months is to find out what major(s) you are interested in.
The undergraduate catalog states that students should declare a major before completing 42 credit hours – this helps ensure that you can graduate in a timely manner. Start the exploration process early!
Although there is no single prescribed method to finding a major, we have tried to gather many resources on this site to help you get started. Feel free to call or visit our office for more information.
