What UTC students are saying about their on-campus interviews....

 

After completing an on-campus interview UTC students were surveyed about their experience.  Listed below are some of their responses.

 

1. What question was the most difficult for you to answer in your interview?

Explaining why I had dropped classes.

I was asked what I know about the company and even though I answered the question well,

I still wish I had more time to prepare for the interview. 

How well do I work in teams? 

Tell me about a time when you did something wrong and how you dealt with it?

Where do I want to be in 5-10 years?

Tell me about a time when you had a problem with a co-worker. How did you resolve the problem?

Are you willing to travel? 

Describe yourself.

What is a job or school experience that was a stretch for me that I was able to handle.

What was my greatest success?

Name a time when I didn't agree with someone and worked it out. 

What was the most challenging thing you have ever had to accomplish?

Tell me about a situation when you had to be assertive.

What is the easiest thing about being a leader?

Give an example of a goal you set and did not achieve.  How did you adjust to meet the goal?

What would my ideal work environment be?

What is your greatest weakness?

Why do you want to work for my company?

Do you have any questions for me? (Employers asked the student)

What do you think our company does?

 

2. What will you do differently to prepare next time?

Have questions prepared to ask the interviewer. 

Take more time to research the company. 

Practice more complex questions to prepare. 

Study the firms clients more diligently. 

Get to the interview early! 

I will try to get more sleep.

Have multiple responses for all types of questions.

Nothing-I felt really prepared after having Jared (Placement Grad Assistant) run me through a practice interview.

Prepare for questions like...."Where do you see yourself in 5 years?"

Write down questions to ask the interviewer.
