Sun Tan City Internship Opportunity Fall 2016

Purpose: To provide hands-on, real word marketing experience to current college student(s) in order to provide a marketable skill once completed.

Hours: 10-20 hours/week requirement.

Pay: this is a non-paid internship; however, candidate will have access to all Sun Tan City services (Traditional UV-tanning and UV-free) at no charge, plus college course credit.

Outline of duties:  Intern(s) will be assigned specific “territory” around current Sun Tan City (STC) location in their territory (approximate 2-3 miles’ radius).  Intern will be responsible for interacting with local business within their territory to promote Sun Tan City and the services provided (traditional and UV-free tanning).  Intern will use approved promotional material (coupons, gift cards etc) to the best of their judgment to generate foot traffic into Sun Tan City.  Each piece of promotional collateral will be coded to each intern for accurate tracking purposes.   Intern is also responsible for utilizing and updating STC marketing binder allowing for productivity tracking and corporate contact follow-up.  Intern will be responsible for presenting the company and self with the highest of professionalism and integrity.  Intern will be responsible for communicating potential partnerships to supervisors. Intern will also be involved in local Marketing Events such as Bridal Shows, Women Expos, etc. Finally, the intern will get to work with the Brand Specialist, Field Support Manager, and the Corporate Marketing Team to brainstorm ideas on how to better promote the Sun Tan City name.

Training:  Intern will complete Sun Tan City’s sales training (apx 20 hours) as well as 5 hours behind the counter and 5 – 10 hours of outside sales training in order to gain full understanding of the Sun Tan City services and culture.

Evaluation:  Intern will also be provided with weekly tracking sheet showing generation of foot traffic at designated store based on tracked coupon return. The Brand Specialist and Field Support Manager will complete ongoing 2-week evaluations to provide impact feedback to intern as well as direction.  

Duration of Internship:  August – December 2016.  Candidate is eligible for hire at conclusion based on performance.

Water Quality Testing and Education UNPAID Internship for  Fall.

Local nonprofit seeking students for summer and/or fall internship in water quality/education. Our 4-year old son is autistic and we are running an in-home play-based therapy program called Son-Rise Program® to help him overcome his challenges and recover from Autism.

YMCA Meal Prep


Do your part to reduce childhood hunger! Rally your church, school group or co-workers to get involved in the cause!

The YMCA is looking for Volunteers and Teams to prepare Daily Meals.

Background/About Program:

To address hunger in our communities, the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga is partnering with the USDA's Food Service Program to help provides free meals to children aged up to 18 during after school programs. 

What do we need:

We need volunteers to help us prepare these healthy meals to send out to the kids of the Chattanooga area! 
We prepare and make all of the meals ourselves at the North River YMCA. It is very easy and fun! Without helping hands like yours these meals would not get prepared and sent out to kids in need of a healthy meal. Please consider volunteering with the YMCA’s After School Feeding Program. Any one is welcome to volunteer!

The shifts include:

Monday - Friday 9am-2pm & 3:30pm-6:30pm

The shifts are flexible if you are not able to stay the entire time, but we ask that you be available to volunteer for at least 2 hours. You can choose to come as many days as you would like. We look forward to having you with us to help us serve our community

Grant Starrett for Congress- US Congressional Campaign Internship Position

We're offering an unpaid internship for either full or part-time work.

Students will gain hands-on political experience working for a US Congressional campaign. The course offers a special opportunity for students to become an integral part of this political process, aiding and assisting the campaign in voter outreach and other campaign activities, while gaining valuable exposure to next-generation social messaging technology.

Students will explore and master a cutting-edge cloud-based data collection and analytics platform of voter demographics, augmenting it with results their own field research for the campaign. Students will learn and apply voter-outreach skills, using empirical methods to quantify and evaluate their own effectiveness. Students, in conjunction with campaign staff, will be encouraged to design their own potential experiments for testing techniques to increase campaign impact, using scientifically rigorous approaches to ensure results can be translated to the real-world.

Participants will be expected to engage in direct voter contact, a significant portion of which will involve knocking on doors over several miles in selected neighborhoods. Ideally, students should have smartphone access and access to a car; however arrangements may be made by the campaign.

“Project Lead the Way” On Campus Volunteer opportunity

The nonprofit nationwide program call "Project Lead the Way"(PLTW) is looking for volunteers to help make contacts and set up meetings across the state.  PLTW provides hands on training K through 12 in Engineering, Computer Science and Biomedical studies. Social Media:

We’re looking for SOCIAL MEDIA INTERNS who live, eat, and breathe Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Yelp, Google+, and more. Assistive Technology Volunteer - Signal Centers

Assistive Technology needs individuals who are mechanically or technically inclined.  Volunteers will be able to accompany specialists in their technology assessments.  Volunteers are also needed to call clients for follow-up on equipment use, returns, etc. This opportunity is a great way to serve and gain experience with clients, computers, electronics, programming, soldering, and more!

Employment Services Volunteer - Signal Centers

Employment Services Volunteers will serve as job coaches and job developers, as well as assist the Employment Specialist. Volunteers will also have the chance for hands on learning by accompanying the Employment Specialist to meetings with potential employers, job coaching with clients, and participating in mock interviews. This opportunity is a great way to get experience working with individuals and veterans with disabilities!

Homework Helpers - Girls Inc. of Chattanooga is in need of homework helpers for the Bookworm Club program and would love to the community get involved. The program is Monday and Tuesday at Woodmore Elementary School in Brainerd and Wednesday and Thursday at East Ridge Elementary School.  We need homework helpers from 4-5 p.m. and general volunteers 3-4 p.m. and 5-6 p.m.  Volunteers should contact Katherine Walker at 423-624-4757.    A minimum commitment of 20 hours is required.
