Academic Department Reports in Argos  

** You must use Internet Explorer to access Argos in a Windows Environment.**

Once you have logged into Argos selected Banner Production, Academic Departments, your College, and your department, your list of data blocks should look similar this (remember your  reports can be accessed by clicking the plus sign next teach data block, not actually clicking on the data block- the icon that is three blue blocks stacked up)

Naming convention for data blocks:   Data Blocks are named in a certain way, as to tell the Banner office information about the data block that will assist if there is a problem with the reporting.   ODS stands for Operational Data Store and this information is generally 24 hours old.   BDB stands for Banner DataBase and this information is real time pulling from Banner.   The initials/ name at the end of the data block tell us who was involved in writing the reports if there are problems, it is easier to fix.   Names of the reports under the data blocks may be changed upon request, but the names of the data blocks themselves cannot be changed.

Description:  A data cube that shows waitlisting numbers for past  terms.

Uses of this report: At a glance to see what courses used waitlisitng  and the numbers of students on the waitlist by course.

Selection Criteria: Term, and Freeze Event ( End of Term or 14th day)  

Description:  A variation on Cube Seats that allows for the  selection of end of term or 14th day enrollment data to see number of seats filled in courses.  

Uses of this report: At a glance to see course enrollment on 14th day or  end of term to compare across terms.

Description: Returns anonymous final student grade information for each individual course in the department for the selected term(s).

Uses of this report: To evaluate grade distribution for courses within the department.

Details : UTCID, Name, Type of Degree, Major, Confidential Indicator,  Institutional GPA, Overall GPA, Departmental Honors, and Institutional Honors  

Considerations: If student has double major or multiple honors, student may be duplicated on this report.  

Uses of this report: To look at overall department GPA for your Graduates for last five years or find the number of your graduates that graduated with honors.  Also ability to have a list of alumnae from a specific program.

Selection Criteria: Term, Graduation Status  

Graduation Status options: Sought (turned in graduation application to Records), Pending( Approved for Graduation by Records), Awarded

Description: Returns program and contact information for all students who have applied for graduation.  

Details: UTCID, Name, Degree, Program, Major, College, Level, Student UTC email, Address, Overall GPA,  Institutional GPA, Honors  

Considerations: If student has double major or multiple honors, student may be duplicated on this report.  

Uses of this report: To look at overall department GPA for your graduates for last five years.  Also look at current of future terms to see who is planning on graduating.  It is a good report to use for Honors Day to determine honor recipients.

Description:  A report  to show a list of classes that have a Waitlist for the current term, number on  the list, and whether it is using the auto or manual waitlisting process.  

Uses of this report: At a glance to see waitlist numbers for  whole department.

Description:  A data cube that returns a matrix of overrides done for department courses.  

Details: Subject, Override UTCID and name, Course Number, CRN, and Type of Override  

Uses of this report: To analyze overrides performed in a specific semester on courses in a specific department.

Selection Criteria: Term  

Description:  Returns all students who received an override for the selected term.  Includes type of override and who gave the student the override.  

Details: Override Code, Subject, Course number, CRN, UTCID, Name, Registration status of student, Student’s UTC email, date of Override, Override user, Override UTCID, activity date of registration status

 

Data Block: BDB_Departments_Reg_Error_by_CRN_and_Student_AR

Selection Criteria: Term, CRN, Student ID  

Description:  Select Course and student.  Then click Get Results to view  specific errors and overrides for that specific student. View returns all students who received a registration error or an override for the selected CRN.  

Details: CRN, Activity Date, Error message student received  

Considerations: If the Error message block is blank, the student has not tried to register for the course.

Description:  A report  to show a list of students admitted for the chosen term and what Orientation  session they are attending.

Uses of this report: A way for advisors to prepare for  upcoming Orientation session, if work needs to be done on scheduling/ advising  (mostly transfers).

Description:  Returns a report of every student on the waitlist for that specific course chosen.  

Details: UTCID, Name, Major, CRN, Subject, Course Number, Registration date & time, and Registration Sequence Number  

Considerations: By monitoring the number of students on the waitlist for a course, it may help indicate when an additional section of a course may be needed.

 

Data Block: BDB_REC_Course_Roll_WAJ  

 

Report: Course Roll with Final Grades   Selection Criteria: Term, Subject, Course Number, CRN

Description:  Returns class role for selected criteria. Once the semester has ended and grades have been posted, the final grade will also be displayed in this report.  

Details: CRN, Subject, Course number, UTCID, Name, Credit hours, Confidentiality Flag, Withdraw Status, Program, Level, Students UTC email, Registration Date & Time., Classification, Graduation Status, Graduation Term  

Uses of this report: Instructors can email their classes through Blackboard, but this allows other individuals in the department to have email lists of courses, so emergency notifications can go out by course.  It can provide a class roster for faculty members and also provide up to date information on the withdrawal status of students. Departments can also see who is planning on graduating in a class, when trying to determine whether to drop a course if a low level of enrollment.

Selection Criteria: Registered Term

Description: Returns all classes taken and currently taking for every student in the department with term, class dept., course number, final and midterm grade information.

Uses of this report: A class roster for faculty and other staff in the department to use.

Selection Criteria: Term, and 2 courses  

Description: Returns students that have:   1) Left Box - registered for Course 1 and had Course 2 in prior term or   2) Right Top Box - registered for Course 1 and not registered for Course 2or   3) Right Bottom Box – registered for Course 1 that have NOT taken course 2 in a previous semester or currently registered for Course 2.  

Uses of this report: To help monitor enrollment in courses that are co-requisites or courses you encourage students to take together.

Selection Criteria:  Term  

Description:  Returns all graduation candidates’ that were unsuccessful in registering for courses due to registration errors (ex. prerequisites, closed class).   Details: UTCID, Name, Degree, Degree Status, Program, Level, College, Major, Student UTC Email, Course ID  

Uses of this report: This report can assist the department/university in helping those students that are trying to graduate to ensure they get the courses they need their last term.  

Considerations: Students should drop off this report if they able to get registered  for any section of the course that was giving them an error.

Selection Criteria: Term  

Description:  Returns all graduation candidates waitlisted, but never successfully registered for the course.

Uses of this report: This report can assist the department/university in helping those students that are trying to graduate to ensure they get the courses they need their last term and have been waitlisted.

Selection Criteria: Term  

Description:  Returns information for all majors in this department.  

Details: UTCID, Name, Current Term Program, Next Term Program, Level, Classification, Enrollment  Status, Primary Advisor, Registration Indicator, Standing, Admissions Type, Overall GPA, Institutional GPA, Institutional Hours, Transfer Hours, Overall Earned Hours, Email, Address, Graduated Indicator.  

Uses of this report: The report could be filtered to remove students that have not graduated and not enrolled to look for students in good standing that may be good recruiting candidates tget them to return to school.  Also may be filtered to find graduates of your program to invite to alumni events.  

Considerations: This report is written to reflect changes in major that are in effect for a future term.  This should give you a more accurate reflection of a department’s current majors.

 

2nd Report: ODS_Currently_Enrolled_Majors With Classification GPA Emails  

Selection Criteria: Term  

Description:  Returns information for all majors in this department.  

Details: Details: UTCID, Name, Current Term Program, Next Term Program, Level, Classification, Enrollment  Status, Primary Advisor, Registration Indicator, Standing, Admissions Type, Overall GPA, Institutional GPA, Institutional Hours, Transfer Hours, Overall Earned Hours, Email, Address, Graduated Indicator.  

Uses of this report: The report could be used to send out messages tall of your currently enrolled majors about upcoming events.  

Considerations: This report is written to reflect changes in major that are in effect for a future term.  This should give you a more accurate reflection of a department’s current majors.

Selection Criteria: Registration Term

Description: Returns students registered for the selected term that are currently in the selected academic department or have changed their major into/out of the selected department.

Details: UTCID, Name, Program Description, Student Level, College, Department, Enrollment Status, Primary Advisor, Student Classification, GPA, Earned Credits, Academic Standing, Academic Period, Email, Address.

Uses of this report: Examine the student rate of transfer in and out of the current department. Examine how many students from other departments have transferred in and if a particular department is sending over more students than other departments. Analyze overall/institutional GPA for students currently in the department. Examine the proportion of different student classifications.

Selection Criteria: Term  

Description:  Returns list of currently enrolled students with advisor

Uses of this report: Prior ta new term starting, this report would show you any students that need an advisor assigned in Banner, or be able to give each advisor a list of their advisees.

Description: Returns the instructor and enrollment for each course section in this department.  

Details:  Instructor, Course, CRN, Credit Hours, Contact Hours, Enrollment number, Generated credit, Lecture hours, Lab Hours, Level
