Karen was the founding director of the Walker Center for Teaching & Learning. She has worked in instructional design and faculty development for over 25 years. Prior to coming to UTC, she worked as an instructional developer at the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX.
Karen earned a doctorate (EdD) in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Houston, a masters degree (MA) in Adult and Continuing Education from the University of Nebraska, and a BFA in art/art education from the University of Georgia.
Her research interests are faculty and instructional design and development; online teaching and learning; educational technology integration in higher education; user interface design; and copyright and fair use issues in higher education.
