Confidentiality and Consultation Policy
The Walker Teaching Resource Center is a university-wide resource for the UTC teaching community. Its goals are to promote excellence in teaching, learning and the use of technology through dialogue, inquiry, and research. The Center also offers teachers feedback and opportunities for reflection on their teaching. To fulfill these goals, the Teaching Resource Center offers a trustworthy environment to those it serves, and thus establishes the following policies. Please address any questions or concerns to the Walker Teaching Resource Center Director.
Faculty receive feedback on their teaching through the Walker Teaching Resource Center in a variety of ways: small group instructional diagnosis (SGID), class observations, micro-teaching, seminars, and consultations about particular teaching challenges.
The Teaching Resource Center is dedicated to providing faculty a place to discuss their teaching and their students in a safe, confidential manner, for formative purposes, without risk of evaluation or censure. Therefore:

The Walker Teaching Resource Center will review feedback (videotapes, student evaluations, etc.) about a course only upon request of the faculty member.

The Walker Teaching Resource Center does not make any feedback or observation results available to anyone but the faculty member who requests such feedback.

The Walker Teaching Resource Center recognizes that faculty may benefit further by sharing the Center feedback with their colleagues and they may do so at their own discretion.

Feedback gathered or given by the Walker Teaching Resource Center is meant to be formative only and thus should not be used in the promotion, tenure, or re-appointment process.

The Walker Teaching Resource Center will make available the name of a faculty participant only upon his or her written request. At the request of a participant, the Teaching Resource Center will provide written verification of participation listing the type(s) of activity and date(s).

Occasionally, the Walker Teaching Resource Center may ask for a faculty member’s written permission to show another individual or group an excerpt or other material to illustrate a particular teaching issue.

The Walker Teaching Resource Center reports its data in aggregate form only. This data may include the total number of faculty attending seminars or participating in consultations.
