What is FastLane?
FastLane is the National Science Foundation's experiment on using the Internet
to facilitate business and other transactions. Check out the NSF's
FastLane
website for more information. FastLane is on a secure server, so
information transmitted to NSF in this manner is encrypted so that no one
can intercept files and data.
What do I need to submit files through FastLane?
To submit files through Fastlane, you need the following:

A computer connected to the Internet

Software applications to prepare your proposal electronically (word processing,
spreadsheet, etc.)

Web browser software (Netscape ,
etc.)

Adobe Acrobat full package (Distiller) [Approximate cost: ~$200.00]
NOTE: Acrobat is available in the Walker Teaching Resource Center,
401 Hunter, on both MacOS and Windows platofrms.

What's the process to submit proposals
through FastLane?

Call Grants and Program Review to set up your account on FastLane.

Prepare your grant documents.

Contact Grants & Program Review for institutional review.

Complete on-line information through Fastlane (
http://www.fastlane.nsf.gov/ )

Create and output .pdf (protable document format) files using Adobe Acribat
Distiller.

Submit .pdf files to FastLane electronically.

Contact Grants & Program Review for institutional review.

Gather and submit approvals and signatures.
