In Campus, I am proud to announce that UTC is movin’ on up. Quit literally! According to the 2006 edition of U-S News and World Report’s annual America’’s Best Colleges Guide, U-T-C moved from 43rd to 40th among colleges in the south. This is in part due to the fact that we now offer three doctoral programs. Chancellor Roger Brown was quoted as saying and I quote, ““I am particularly pleased to see that UTC continues to score well in academic reputation, class size, and other factors of academic quality.”

Earlier this week we told you about to students who made U-T-C history by being the first African Americans to study abroad in South Africa. Chareva McCullough and Keyanna Webb have recently written to Students Supports Service, who help funded there trip, and we are happy to report that the girls made it safely to South Africa. The flight took 19 hours. Keyanna wrote “ It is beautiful here, the climate will take some getting use to but I love it.” While Chareva say “Africa is great!!! I am having fun touring the town but were actually just getting started.” Mocs News will be you more on this historic journey as it becomes available to us.
