In Campus news, U-T-C announces there will be a series of events surrounding the installation of the new Chancellor, Dr. Roger Brown. Planned activities are scheduled for February 16 th thru the 18 th . The formal ceremony will take place February 18 th at Patten Chapel. As the Fifteenth chancellor of UTC Dr. Brown will be sworn in by UT President John Peterson.

Over the weekend, Mayor Claude Ramsey and Congressman Zach Wamp where in attendance as UTC held an open house and ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the Hamilton County High-Tech Incubator-Accelerator which will focus on the creation and development of high-tech companies. Chancellor Roger Brown called it “a very proud day for U-T-C”

Two student support services participants make history has they will be the first African Americans from U-T-C to study abroad in South Africa. Chareva McCullough and Keyanna Webb are enrolling at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban for the Spring 2006 term. Student Support Services are federally funded by the TRIO program.

You still have time to submit your idea for the S-G-A student monument design. S-G-A has extended the deadline to February 3 rd. The monument will be located in the new green space beside Brock Hall and across from the UC. Your idea or concept needs to be blueprinted on a standard size poster board and should include a one page description of how the design will encompass the spirit, pride and identity of U-T-C as well as explaining how it will hold up to outdoor conditions. These will all be factors in determining a winner. You could win up to $500 dollars and recognition on the monument itself. All submission due no later than February 3 rd.

The U-T-C art department and the association for the visual artist is sponsoring this year’s Muse: Artist Lecture Featuring Kojo Griffin on Thursday February 2 in the Benwood Auditorium inside the U-T-C Engineering, Math and Computer Science building. And the U-T-C Cress Gallery of Art has extended its Juried Student Exhibition thru February 3 rd.

In Mocs Sports, Chattanooga All-American Shannon Wommack set a new school record as well as an N-C-double-A Provisional mark on her way to winning the 3000 meter run at the Rod McRavey Memorial, held at the University of Kentucky. Her time of 9:31.75 bested her own school record, set at last year’s McRavey, by more than 11 seconds. Wommack is the three-time Southern Conference Women's Indoor Track Performer of the Year.

In Mocs Basketball, the Lady Mocs beat Elon 77-47 in a Southern Conference match this past Saturday at U-T-C McKenzie Area. Making them undefeated in the Southern Conference While the Chattanooga Mocs three game winning streak came to a close when they faced the College of Charleston. Chattanooga Mocs drops to 12-10 overall and 3-4 in the Southern Conference. The Mocs are still in Charleston and will take on the Citadel tonight at 7:15, you can keep up with the score at GoMocs.com

You know Money Mike from Friday After Next while you’ve seen Lavelle Crawford on B-E-T’s “Comic View” $8 dollars with student ID $16 dollar for non students show starts at 8 p-m. This event is sponsored by UTC and the Big Event Committee, a branch of the Association of Campus Entertainment or ACE.
