----TAKE OTS--- In campus news, The Raymond B. Witt Perspectives series continues in the University Center this week. The topic is Mind/Body/Soul: The Holistic Quest. Sessions will be through Friday, January 20. The series is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact Shannon Smith, at (423) 425-4455. ----TAKE OTS--- UTC students are invited to submit designs for a student monument to be located in the new green space opposite the University Center, between the UC and the old football field. The UTC Student Government Association is sponsoring the Student Monument Design Contest. The winner of the Student Monument Design Contest will receive a $500 cash prize, a plaque, and recognition on the monument itself. Fabrication costs, weather resistance, and appropriateness will all be factors in determining a winning design. The student body will judge and decide the winning design. All submissions are due no later than Friday, January 20th.

UN/ Quake Relief --TAKE OTS--- CASH REMAINS CRITICAL FOR AID ORGANIZATIONS WORKING IN THE SOUTH ASIA EARTHQUAKE ZONE. U.N. OFFICIALS SAY THEY RECEIVED SLIGHTLY OVER HALF OF THE 550-MILLION DOLLARS NEEDED FOR A SIX-MONTH EMERGENCY RELIEF EFFORT. CNN'S BECKY ANDERSON SPOKE WITH U.N. EMERGENCY RELIEF COORDINATOR, JAN EGELAND, SHE ASKED ABOUT PROJECTS BEING FUNDED WITH THE CURRENT DONATIONS. --TAKE OTS -- FIRST LADY LAURA BUSH IS WRAPPING UP A FOUR-DAY TRIP THROUGH WEST AFRICA. IN ABUJA, NIGERIA TODAY (WEDNESDAY, LOCAL TIME), SHE MET WITH NIGERIA'S PRESIDENT. SHE ALSO TOURED A HOSPITAL AND VISITED A MODEL SECONDARY SCHOOL. --TAKE OTS--Leo Blair/Son of Tony Blair BRITISH POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING AN ALLEGED PLOT, TO KIDNAP PRIME MINISTER TONY BLAIR'S FIVE-YEAR-OLD SON LEO. THE WEDNESDAY EDITION OF LONDON'S SUN NEWSPAPER REPORTS: EXTREMIST SYMPATHIZERS OF A FATHER'S RIGHTS GROUP HATCHED THE PLOT TO HIGHLIGHT THEIR CAUSE. THE GROUP'S FOUNDER SAYS HIS ORGANIZATION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT. THERE HAS BEEN NO KIDNAPPING ATTEMPT OR ARREST REPORTED.

TAKE VIDEO— Last Friday we reported breaking news from Seminole County, Florida about a middle school student with a gun. The student apparently raised the weapon to fire on the police and an officer shot and killed the eighth-grader. It was later determined that the gun was a toy.

ALAN POSTER WAS LIVING IN NEW YORK CITY IN JANUARY 19-69 WHEN A CORVETTE HE'D BOUGHT FOR SIX-THOUSAND DOLLARS ONLY THREE MONTHS PRIOR WAS STOLEN FROM A 23RD STREET PARKING GARAGE. FAST-FORWARD TO THIS NOVEMBER, WHEN THE CAR WAS INSIDE A SHIPPING CONTAINER AT THE PORT OF LONG BEACH, DESTINED FOR A BUYER IN SWEDEN. A ROUTINE CUSTOMS CHECK SHOWED IT WAS REPORTED STOLEN. NEW YORK POLICE LOCATED THE TRUE OWNER. POSTER, WHO NOW LIVES IN CALIFORNIA, CALLED THE RETURN OF HIS CAR A "MIRACLE." ---TAKE OTS--- AN ONLINE CASINO CALLED GOLDENPALACE-DOT-COM HAS PAID TOP DOLLAR FOR A KIDNEY STONE FROM ACTOR WILLIAM, WHO PLAYED CAPTAIN KIRK ON THE ORIGINAL STAR TREK T-V SHOW AND MOVIES. THE 25-THOUSAND DOLLARS THE COMPANY PAID WILL GO TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY, A CHARITY THAT BUILDINGS HOMES FOR THE NEEDY. SHATNER PASSED THE STONE, WHICH HE SAID WAS SO LARGE "YOU'D WANT TO WEAR IT ON YOUR FINGER," LAST FALL. HE RECENTLY EARNED AN EMMY FOR HIS ROLE ON " BOSTON LEGAL." TAKE OTS TWO WOMEN WERE PULLED FROM THE ATLANTIC OCEAN TODAY, 13-HUNDRED MILES EAST OF PUERTO RICO. THEIR 24-FOOT ROWBOAT HAD CAPSIZED SUNDAY. SARAH KESSANS AND EMILY KOHL -- BOTH FROM THE U-S -- WERE PARTICIPATING IN THE 2005 ATLANTIC ROWING RACE. THE COAST GUARD LAUNCHED THE RESCUE AFTER RECEIVING AN EMERGENCY POSITION RADIO BEACON FROM THE BOAT. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THE COAST GUARD HAS HAD TO ASSIST A BOAT IN THE RACE.

And auditions for the Vagina Monologues will be in the raccoon Mountain room on jan. 20 th, 23th, and the 24 th @ 5-8pm And here’s a big treat.. Katt Williams and Lavelle Crawford will be here on feburary 3 rd in Maclellam Gym @ 8pm. You might know him as money mike…funny guy.. and now for a look at weather with Emily Edwards
---TAKE FULLSCREEN--- And now for a look at the weather for the rest of the week. Friday Scattered thunderstorms with highs in the mid 60s and lows in the low 40s. On Saturday showers are possible with highs in the mid 40s and lows in the low 30s. And on Sunday expect a few showers with highs in the mid 40s and lows in the mid 30s.
And I hope you like the class schedule that you have and I hope that this we be a great semester but just in case your still not positive about all you classes you have until Monday Jan.23rd to drop you class without receiving a “double U” on your transcript, this also apply if your looking to change a class from credit to audit.
