Employment
UTC Housing Department employs students to work as Resident Assistants, Community Assistants, Assistant Resident Directors, Graduate Assistants, Resident Directors and Area Coordinator. These positions are filled based on a process of interviews conducted by the department.
Apart from these positions we also employ "Work-Study" students to help out the Housing Staff with office work. Students would typically man the complex offices and fill in desk hours.

Qualifications Required
- 2.3 (Semester/Cumulative) GPA
- 24 Hrs total acquired in college
- Resident Hall/Complex living experience is valuable
- Must possess high levels of leadership and interpersonal skills
- Should have a clear disciplinary record and good standing with the University

Job Responsibilities
Resident Assistants are expected to perform the following duties:
- Spend every night after midnight, in their residential unit, unless otherwise cleared by their Resident Director
- Maintain a 2.3 or higher Grade Point Average (both semester and cumulatively)
- Attend Resident Hall/Complex functions unless otherwise stipulated by their Resident Director
- Abide by all University regulations
- Plan 3 activities for the residents of their unit each semester
- Attend all hall staff meetings
- Attend all Resident Staff training sessions
- Return to the residence hall/apartment each semester prior to students checking in and must stay until each resident of their unit has checked out at the end of the semester
- Complete a room condition report form for each room of their unit prior to occupancy
- Check residents out when they leave or change rooms
- Ensure that residents are familiar with, understand the rationale for, and comply with all basic University rules and regulations
- Be available and willing to counsel students within the limits of their training and capabilities on academic, personal, social and financial matters
- Develop a personal relationship with each person of their unit as soon as possible, being alert to student’s attitudes, achievements, and problems
- Avoid off campus jobs
- Avoid activities which interfere with the responsibilities of being an RA
- Be on campus during the first two weekends of each term
- Perform other duties that are assigned by their Resident Director
