UTC Freshman Seminar provides a wonderful opportunity for instructors and small groups of freshman students to explore topics that are important to the transition of the student from high school to UTC. They are small, interactive courses designed to introduce first-year students to an array of challenging and interesting topics. By taking a freshman seminar class, students becomes an active member of Chattanooga's community. The instructors benefit also: interacting directly with bright and talented new students is inspiring and energizing. These courses develop writing, speaking, and critical-reasoning skills as well as providing faculty advisement and peer interaction.
Freshman Seminar is three-credit elective courses and apply toward credits needed for graduation but not major requirements.
Freshman Seminar is offered each term and are open to all first year students. Students can enroll in a Freshman Seminar once they have met with an academic adviser during New Student Orientation. Please remember space is limited and enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis.
