An efficient method for computing adjoint based, functional sensitivities has been developed in a manner that minimizes maintenance required to reflect subsequent updates to the function code. This method has been applied to an unstructured mesh, Navier Stokes flow solver, within an object-oriented, polymorphic framework. The use of Complex Taylors Series Expansion (CTSE), within this framework, allows for flexible application in the computation of derivatives.
