Recent Professional Development of CASR Staff
Dr. Barbara C. Medley
Fall 2010 was a Sabbatical period for Dr. Medley. Much of this time was spent in the development and implementation of a study on young adult attitudes toward commitment and marriage. This research was supported by grants from the UTC Faculty Research and Development Committee’s and Office of Equity and Diversity. Dr. Medley presented preliminary findings from this study at the Eastern Sociological Society meeting in Philadelphia, PA, in February 2011, and the Middle Tennessee State University Interdisciplinary Conference in March 2011.
Ms. Marclyn D. Porter
In addition her work at the CASR, Ms. Porter teaches Research Methodology in UTC's Sociology, Anthropology and Geography Department. Her dissertation research focuses on the pre-service preparation and professional development for novice teachers. Resent presentations and publications include: (2012) Article publication in Journal of the National Association for Alternative Certification entitled "Professional Development for the Novice Teacher: One University’s Initiative to Support the Alternatively Certified Educator". (2011) Presentation at Georgia Conference on College and University Teaching at Kennesaw State University entitled: "Professional Development for the Novice Teacher".
