About the Women's Center

The Women's Center at UTC first opened its doors in October 2008. The Women's Center grew out of theTransformation Project, our violence against program education and advocacy program. With the support of Chancellor Roger Brown, the Women's Center took its place on the third floor of the University Center. Since its creation, the Women's Center has become a strong community of students and community members dedicated to principles of social justice and gender equity.

The Women's Action Council has become the student group partnered with the Women's Center. The twoorganizations work closely together to advocate for women on the UTC campus and the Chattanooga community. Each year, the Women's Action Council organizes the celebration of Feminist Appreciation Day and stages the Vagina Monologues.
In the last year, the Women's Center has grown to include a new Assistant Director of Education and Programming. We hope to continue our growth in the future to include a position dedicated to LGBTQQIA education and programming.
