We make every attempt to maintain contact with students after their time in the program, and hope to continue doing so as they make strides of progress during their lifetime. Upward Bound's Class of 1972 (left) can be seen here on a field trip to Chattanooga City Court. At the time, the judge in this photo was the first African American judge in the city of Chattanooga.
Alisha Haden, UB and Chattanooga City High School graduate of 2001, moved on to attend college at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN.
Ms. Haden majored in communications, with hopes of having a career in the media. She currently resides in Washington, DC, and is pursuing a graduate degree at Howard University.

Christopher Sands was in Upward Bound 2000-2002, and is a 2002 Brainerd graduate. He attends Alabama A&M University in Normal, AL (Huntsville).
Brittany Wilkerson is a 2004 UB and Brainerd graduate who attends Chattanooga State.
Chasity Robinson (Far right and bottom photos) is a 2003 UB and Chattanooga City High School graduate. She attended Chattanooga State, and later the military.

Arlyce Powell (left) graduated from Howard School of Academics and Technology in 1993, and went on to graduate from Alabama A&M.
He furthered his education by achieving a masters degree from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, before moving to his current residence of Washington, DC.
Powell works with the United States government for FEMA. He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, and is often active with community organizations.

Jermaine Harper (right) is a 1990 UB and Howard High School graduate, who furthered his education at Morehouse College, and achieved a graduate degree in Business Administration at UTC. Harper is very active in the community, serving on various boards and having membership with organizations such as Omega Psi Phi fraternity and Chattanooga Young Professionals. He has established himself as a familiar face and a successful businessman.
After graduating from Brainerd High School, Karl Gardner earned his degree in Communication from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga . He decided to pursue a career in acting, which is where he has spent over a decade as a character in such movies as Fled, Runaway Virus, The Michael Jordan Story, and most recently, The Fighting Temptations.
He has also appeared in television shows and stage productions, including A Raisin in the Sun, Madea’s Class Reunion, and played the role of R&B singer, Kelly Price’s husband in the Tyler Perry play, "Why Did I Get Married." Gardner resides in Atlanta , and is also a writer, producer and director. Currently, he is director of Destiny Ensemble Theatre Company, a joint venture with the City of Chattanooga. The company has produced the plays "Livin' Phat" and "Crowns."
