Goals of the New SGC Website

May 20, 2003

I. Presentation and Outreach

A. Create a site that allows potential members to find us and learn our mission.

B. Create a visual design that reflects the sprit of the organization

C. To be a means of disseminating information that furthers our mission of furthering the advancement of printmaking and prints.

II. Communication

A. Create a means to communicate time sensitive information to members in a timely fashion.

B. Create means for members to connect with each other outside of the conference.
- Move the List serve to the new Website
- Possibly create some kind of conversation board for the membership
- Create some kind of controlled message board for the board to use as a means of communication beyond email.

III. Archive and Record.

A. Create a place to archive documents such as the newsletter and conference presentations for easy access

B. Create a link to the database that is being created for our archives in Mississippi.   There are a number of issues here that I do not personally understand but I am sure can be worked out by everyone (you, Scott and   at the university of Oxford).  I do have a concern of who will update the digital record once the student is gone but I am sure this is something that we can work out.  We have reconstructed the archives committee which will be visiting the archives this summer and working on the long term goals of the archives.

IV. Maintenance and Editorial Control

Create a template that will make it possible for effective and efficient maintenance and updating of the site.

- Crete a template that can be maintained at different sites by different people.

- Create an editorial structure that efficiently receives and organizes new web site info and controls its placement on the web.

This is just an outline and it is really your job to figure it out.  Please keep me posted on what you are up to.
