The Georgescu-Roegen PrizeThe Georgescu-Roegen Prize is awarded each year by the Southern Economic Association for the best academic article published in the Southern Economic Journal. The prize consists of an engraved plaque and a monetary award, the amount of which is determined by a set portion of the earnings on the Georgescu-Roegen endowment. Recipients of the prize are chosen by a selection committee consisting of the Editor of the Southern Economic Journal, and two Vice Presidents of the Southern Economic Association. The winner for 2006 is:
Çagatay Koç was awarded the 2006 Georgescu-Roegen Prize for
best article published in volume 72 of the Southern Economic Journal; his
article is
titled "Health-Specific Moral Hazard Effects” (SEJ,
volume 72, number 1, July 2005).
The selection committee granted an honorable mention to “Labor Market Implications of Weak Ties” in the January 2006 issue by Troy Tassier, Assistant Professor of Economics at Fordham University (SEJ, volume 72, number 3, January 2006).
