West Side Magnet School – Lagrange, GA
SCEA has a long history of working with West Side Magnet School. It was one of the 35 partner schools across the nation which participated in the Annenberg/Getty Transforming Education Through the Arts Challenge research project in 1996-2001. Building on the development of discipline-based arts education, SCEA introduced arts integration strategies to the faculty in the fall of 2008, with workshops focusing on music, theatre, dance, and visual art integration.
West Side Magnet School in Lagrange, GA, provides a disciplined-based arts education based upon a strong academic foundation. A union of home, school and community cultivates each student's intellectual and emotional growth, actively engaging all students in the learning process while providing an emphasis on the arts. Students are then empowered to become life-long learners in order to meet the challenges of an increasingly complex society.
