Signal Centers Early Childhood Program
Through a partnership with the United Way of Greater Chattanooga's Project Ready for School, SCEA Director of Dance Education Marissa Nesbit has partnered with preschool teachers at Signal Centers to provide professional development training in creative movement for young children. Working together, Ms. Nesbit and the preschool teachers create and implement creative movement sessions for three- and four-year olds that connect and expand on themes found in the Creative Curriculum for Preschool and the EXCEED Curriculum.
The children have enjoyed learning about the elements of dance as they explore topics such as the weather, shapes, and feelings and create movement inspired by books such as From Head to Toe by Eric Carle and Off We Go! by Jane Yolen.
