CONSULTING

Mentoring

SCEA directors can provide on-site individualized assistance to teachers implementing a comprehensive arts education program or working with concept based arts integration. Activities for making teaching practice public may include observation and analysis of classroom instruction, strategies for reflective practice, team teaching, dialoguing with peers, and analysis of student work.

Leadership

Schools working to establish comprehensive arts education programs have found it very productive to create an arts leadership team. This group of administrators, arts specialists, classroom teachers, and community members work to clarify philosophy, establish goals, develop implementation strategies, plan curriculum, arrange professional development, and assess progress. Personnel from the Southeast Center can provide guidance in establishing and maintaining such a team

Follow Leader

Long-Range Planning

By periodically assessing the current status of their arts education program, schools can formulate goals and strategies for developing and sustaining a comprehensive arts education program. SCEA's long-range planning process engages a school's Arts Leadership Team in identifying strengths, establishing priorities for improvement, developing action plans, and analyzing results to inform the ongoing process.
