STRATEGIC PLANNING AND COMMUNICATIONS INITIATIVE

The Southeast Center for Education in the Arts is at a critical juncture in our 21-year history. SCEA must keep pace with the new demands, opportunities, and realities of the arts education world today. We must think more strategically about our core mission and professional development strategies, and how they can be modified to match opportunities that are emerging in the arts education field, particularly in arts-focused and 21st Century learning-focused schools throughout the nation.

In these challenging economic times, the positioning of the importance of the arts and the organizations like SCEA who support them requires bold thinking and proven strategies for marketing organizational relevance and value. In order to remain competitive in an increasingly crowded field, SCEA must identify our authentic voice and unique advantage that sets us apart from other competing organizations.

Starting in July 2009, Marmillion + Company will facilitate a comprehensive strategic planning and communications initiative. A five-step strategic planning process will allow SCEA to understand and evaluate its options in the current market and identify opportunities it has for future growth in order to keep pace with the new demands, opportunities, and realities of the arts education world today. The process will result in a pro-active, consensus-driven plan that will enable SCEA to identify and maximize its strengths, effectively utilize resources, and turn potential challenges into opportunities for the future.
