The Kansas City School of the Arts is a public charter school within the Kansas City, Missouri School District scheduled to open in August 2010. It will house grades 9 through 12 and center around a college preparatory curriculum that is embedded with the visual and performing arts.
SCEA directors Marissa Nesbit, Joel Baxely, and Kim Wheetley conducted a workshop on Curriculum Inquiry: A Discussion of Arts Integration introducing faculty members and artists from Kansas City Young Audiences to the philosophy and design of arts integration at a professional development meeting in Kansas City on January 31, 2009.
