Alignment and Rigorous Program Design and Evaluation
An aligned arts integration program is informed by data, based on research, and logically connects activities, outputs, and outcomes. A rigorous program design asks what success looks like, asks strong evaluation questions, and describes the evidence that needs to be collected to answer them.
|
Rigorous Professional Development
Rigorous professional development offers participants experiences that prepare them to infuse their teaching with active, experiential learning for students that requires problem solving and inquiry in or through the arts; provide them with a deep understanding of an arts discipline; strengthen their ability to help students transfer knowledge between disciplines; and help them create opportunities for students to work cooperatively.
|
Rigorous Curriculum & Instruction
Rigor at the curriculum and instruction level requires students to construct meaning, impose structure on situations, demonstrate in-depth mastery of challenging tasks, develop cognitive skills through problem-solving and creativity, connect with other disciplines as well as real life, and collaborate with peers.
|
Teamwork & Sustainability
An arts integration program built on teamwork is one in which participants collaborate on the processes of shaping a vision, making decisions, taking responsibility for project development and implementation, assuming risks, reflecting on project quality, celebrating success, and disseminating results. A sustainable program is one that develops strategies for maintaining the quality and successful outcomes of a program in spite of changing conditions over time.
